Bangladesh authorities continue arrest Rohingya

Bangladesh authorities have been continuing conducted operation and arresting more Rohingyas along the Bangladesh border areas since May 2012, said a villager elder.

“They were arrested by Bangladesh authorities in raided from the local areas where they live and work. Of them, some were pushed back to Burma by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), but nea...rly 80 Rohingyas were sent to jail by police.”

The police from Alikodam raided and arrested 10-Rohingya and sent to Bandarban court on June 5, 2012 , imprisoned with the case No. 1964/14 said an aide of police.

“The Rohingya were arrested for illegal entered into Bangladesh and working along the border line without legal documents.”

Mohamed Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge from Alikodam police station said, “The conducted operation is going on against the illegal Rohingyas along the border areas.”

The arrested are:- Md. Amin (26), Amir Hussain (27), Jamal Hussain (33), Sayed Hussain (25), Nurul Islam (35), Suna Ahamed (37), Anser Ullah (22), Suna Meah (19), Jamal Hussain (24) and Abul Hashem.

On June 3, police arrested 12 Burma’s citizens (Rohingya) in a raid at Meghla area near the district town of Bandarban . The Rohingyas had been working in the area as laborers, an aide of police said.

Police arrested the Rohingyas at around 12: 00 pm when they gathered at Meghla in search for work, Bandarban Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Ahmed said.

The arrested are Mohammad Ali (22), Syed Ahmed (34), Md. Foyez (32), Kabir Ahmad (23), Md. Alam (55), Jahir Uddin (45), Sharif Uddin (42), Majibur Rahman (25), Ziaur Rahman (25), Abul Kasim (65), Azizul Haque (56) and Abdul Kader, 55, they hailed from Buthidaung township, Arakan State , Burma .

Later, they were produced before a court and then sent to jail.

Earlier, on May 13-15 Bangladeshi police arrested over fifty Rohingyas from different localities in raided and sent to jail. The police of Chandanach police raided and arrested them from the Bottali area under the Chittagong zone, said a local from the locality.

According to sources, more Rohingyas were arrested from Dum Dum Meah BGB-check post, Whykong check-post and along the border after being conducted operation by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while being going to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf. They were pushed back to Burma.

“We are not able to feeds our children as the Bangladesh authority crackdown us, said a daily labor from Teknaf. “We flee from our mother land for fear of persecutions from Burmese authority and here we also feel we are no safe.”
