Maungdaw, Arakan State: The police officers –Aung Kyaw Than, Tin Aye, Htun Htun, Kyaw Aye and Then Tin from Maungdaw police station- arrested more Rohingya from Maungdaw today with false allegation to extort money, said an elder from Maungdaw.
“The police officers arrested Yaser Hasson, 25, son of Hajee Mohamed Akbar and Bashor 60, from Ward 5 today at about 12:25pm.”
Salim 50, Aman Ullah 25, son of Habib Ullah and Fayas 35 were arrested today from Ward number 2 near Clock tower by Police officers group.
The police officers were destroyed the kitchen market of Kanree village today morning where the Rohingya community buy and sell goods for their daily survival and beat the Rohingya in the market who ever met with them,
Similarly Iqubal 32, an NGO worker with other four Rohingya including one female, were arrested by police from Bomu village on June 30, according to a villagers from Bomu village.
The police officers are harassing and arresting Rohingya community while the officer met them anywhere in the town and extorting money from Rohingya community after arresting.
On the other hand, Burmese border security force (Nasaka) are checking the family lists in the Rohingya villages of Maungdaw Township where they mostly checking the young Rohingyas and male. When checking the list, the Nasaka used different methods – sometimes mark the missing people, sometime remove or sometime arrest. The Rohingya villagers are fleeing from the village to another village for fear of arrest. But, Nasaka are using this Rohingyas as flee from the country to Bangladesh. This is a system of reducing Rohingya population from Arakan, said a school teacher from Maungdaw.
