Army destroys market, loots and beats up people at Thaman Tha, Maungdaw


Maungdaw, Arakan State:  More than 40 army personnel went to the Fokira Bazar ( Thaman Tha) from Medike army camp of Maungdaw Township  and surrounded the whole market and arbitrary beaten up the people where the army met in the market and looted cash and goods from the marker etc.,on September 1, at about 2:00 pm, said a one of the shopkeepers of Fokira Bazar
The army also destroyed some shops in the market. Many people were wounded but not received any information of dead.
“Why the armies suddenly do such kinds of incident, we do not know the facts,” said a village elder with very disappointed from the locality.”
Another local elder said, “In advance, we know that army will do some things in the village or in the market.”
“On the other hand, government announced, the western Arakan state became calm, security forces controlled the situation.” But, in practical, the security forces—army, Hluntin, police, Sarapa, and Nasaka are committing crimes against Rohingya community in daily basis,” said a politician from Maungdaw
