About 300 Buddhist extremist attacked and demolished a Muslims religious school in outskirt Yangon

It is not strange in Burma that police and authorities are reluctant to prevent Buddhist extremist from demolishing Muslims religious premises. Besides, bias Burmese Medias is also busy as usual labeling the incidents to justify the crime that Buddhist extremists have committed.
On Sunday 17th February 2013, about 300 Buddhist extremist have attacked and demolished a Muslims religious school in front of authority. The school is located at No.1128, between 18th and 19th street; block No.3, Thar Kay Ta Township, and Yangon. The school is officially built and donated since 2001.
The school authority is carrying out renovation by the permission of the authority and the school roof-top become higher few feet than the authority has allowed. Strangely, a notice letter have issued from Municipal Department dated 17th February 2013, which is a public holiday, stated to replace the roof-top to previous position. Besides, the authority demanded to replace it the same day the letter issued, which is a public holiday.
About 300 Buddhist extremist have gathered and attacked the school while 4 police vans and local authorities are available. The mob attacked one reporter and two persons from Islamic Council, in front of the police, who tried to calm the mob. The victims were injured and lost their mobile phones but the police were reluctant to help the victims.
A local journal called “Voice Weekly” stated on their Facebook account, “the riots has sparked for the building a mosque in the name of school” and later on they have deleted the post without any apologizing for stating wrong information.
The school premise was very old and need major renovation. Since many decades Muslims were not allowed to build any mosque and religious school in Burma. The permission to renovate old mosque and school are also very hard to get; Muslims premises are frequently targeted by Buddhist extremist attacks; never any action has taken by the authority against the Buddhist extremist.

A Buddhist group named 969 destroyed Muslims’ shops in Meitthilar ,Myanmar.

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at , members of he Buddhist Extremist Group (969) destroyed the shop houses at Meitthilar Township Myanmar after the shop refused to buy the fake gold. The riot started after a couple from the nearby village tried to sell the fake gold. Later the couple gathered a mob from their village to destroy the shops. Few days before these event, Members of Buddhist Extremist group,969 posted at social media Facebook as “Muslim were building a Masjid at Turkey War Cemetery” and they called people to destroy. 969 group was supported by the Buddhist Monk U Wirathu who is popular among racist group due to his Anti Islamic Speech.
Buddhist started burning Muslims’ homes at 6:30 pm after the above incident of gold shop case was finished at 2 pm.Two mosques and 6 or 7 houses were in fire. Police failed to provide safety for muslims. Muslims from Meikhtila down town area have to run away to nearby towns by leaving their homes and properties. The government need to handle hate speech spreading against minority Muslims by some monks and groups.

An Interview

A brief translation of what a Muslim from that town said in the Interview video is below.
“there is no safety for Muslim till now. We all have to flee from down town by foot or motorcycle or car. They started burn the homes since 6:30 pm. A Mosque called “A Shaet Pa Le (meaning East Mosque)”, Min Galar Zay Yon Mosque and a madarsa, 6/7 houses were in fire. People and Police are just keep watching and not stopping them. Meikhtila 8888 group who attended Min Ko Naing when he visited Meikhtila, another group who helped in conducting a hate speech by racist preacher monk Wi Ra Thu and a group of former NLD who have been fired from NLD group were involved in initiating unrest between Muslims and Buddhists. They had started spreading instigating messages against Muslims. There is an NLD group leading by DR. San Hlaing, Ko Thiha, Htain Min Khine, Kyi Kyi Thein, Mi Thae Oo. They are spreading hate propaganda against Muslim one month before this incident. No death till now from Muslim side. But one Muslim man who tried to take the photos has been beaten up and hospitalised. There are rumors spreaded that one monk has been killed by muslims. But the news is wrong. Muslims from Meikhtila down town area cannot do anything but have to run away to nearby towns by leaving their homes and properties. Muslims did not expect that will happen. This happened around 6pm only after the incident of gold shop case was finished at 2 pm. Now we cannot do anything. I would like to request the government to handle hate speech spreading against minority Muslims. This is now very important to handle such kind of Hate speech spreaded by NLD group and some monks which government did not take any action against them till now. “

Meiktila violence – Interview with the person flee from “AunZayYa Block”, Meiktila, Myanmar

Mandalay (22-3-2013)
We flee from Meiktila at yesterday about 9:30 am by driving car among the crowd of people where Min Ko Naing who is the 88 generation Student group leader was giving speech to the people to calm down and stop for violence. The person who drove the car for us is one of the Buddhist man from Meiktila. On the way along to Mandalay city there were Monks and people who were holding weapon like swords and staves. They check the car and if they see Muslim the drag out from car and beat up till die. We were hiding and the car driver not stops totally just showing his face and we had been escape. On the way along there were Muslim own shops, houses, stores, vehicles, furniture and house hold fixtures were incinerating.
Total 11 persons in our group including me. But only 8 people had been escape to Mandalay and “Ulama” Islamic organisation arranged the place to stay for 8 person at Mandalay. We heard that other 2 person left at Meiktila distinct field refugee camp.
The night before we flee from there we heard the whole night the mobs torching and beating Muslims. The authority and police security were standing and watching till the Buddhist terrorist satiable of attack and they came to control. The Buddhist terrorists barged attacked the Muslims between from the police. They also drag out the dead bodies to other places.
We got information that hundred of “Hafiz Quran learning students” (they are only children 8 to 14 year old) were retained by police but we did not know exactly at which place and they still alive or not. We also heard that one person from Mandaly who is arranging and asking help to UNICEF for rescues them after Friday prayer on Friday (today 22-3-2013 after noon).
But we got the information that 21-3-2013 early morning about 2 am the Buddhist extremist terrorists were torching the MingalarZayYone Quran learning school at Meiktila then these children were running to escape and hiding into the “Wattlan forest”. Some of resident Buddhists were said that they saw terrorists were put out petrol and burn down as they saw massacre.
Before 12 noon terrorists were torching and beating till died the Muslims from “Chan Aye” and “MaGyiGone” villages today, we continuously get information that from the people who left at Meiktila.
We willing to be ended all these and want peaceful. This is the second big massacre after Rakhine violence. All these are well planned and tailored.
In the 1988 when public strike the government and authority can control easily even the whole country but now it is only small town and this is not acceptable reason that they can’t control. As a citizen of Myanmar this situation is not reasonable and not acceptable.
